WIP Snippet
Apr. 6th, 2026 05:58 pmSo anyways! Here's a snippet of my no-good-terrible Elwing/Maedhros arranged marriage AU. The short of it is, Elwing gets rescued before Uinen can get to her, and now the Fëanorians have the Silmaril but also two small children and their very angry and traumatized mother on their hands. Maglor (who is technically canonically married according to the text, not that we ever see his wife. I should do something about that at some point) decides that Ëarendil is clearly dead (on account of the "no sailing west" thing as well as the "half-human" thing) and that Maedhros marrying Elwing would solve all their problems! It solves some diplomatic problems but that's about it (it also creates new ones). This particular snippet is part of a conversation between Elwing and Maglor:

On Miriel Therinde and endings
Apr. 3rd, 2026 08:23 pmThe original post's text for context (it's not perfectly structured but it works):

I did later add something in response to tags (talking about how important her choices were, and how she wouldn't change them, and I agree) on the post so here it is as well:

Now with all that house keeping out of the way, lets get to this!
Míriel is where all this mess starts and she's not at fault for any of it. Because, while she did choose and I love that so much, that in no way forced anyone to act the way they did afterwards (they're in literal paradise and they're immortal!! Why is Finwë so worried about having more kids?). Not that she would budge if she did think (or if someone convinced her) that she was wrong (I did mean it when I say Fëanor gets his personality from her). I think that's why she leaves again at the end, just to make sure everyone got the point and that they wouldn't be able to force/cajole her into anything.
And I'm glad for it, I'm glad she gets her choice and I'm glad she gets to be happy. She remains uncompromising through it all, even when she seems to be contrite, and I love that
Appliqué hell
Mar. 21st, 2026 08:51 pmI probably should also get a proper sewing space that's not just mean curled up on the couch but that's another problem altogether. Also if anyone knows how not to kill my wrists while doing this any advice is appreciated
On Elrond and Elros and the Matter of Age
Mar. 20th, 2026 01:05 amI've been thinking a lot about Elrond and Elros (so more than the usual obsessive amounts), and I've been trying to decide which one I'd make the eldest. Now I know that it's pretty insignificant since they're twins, but I think they'd care (if only as a joke) and that's what counts. So lets consider the options:
- Elrond is older, this means that he gets to tease his brother about going grey before him, and Elros gets to tease him about taking so so long to settle down, and he does use this to torture/distract councilors and nobles he doesn't want to deal with. Oh he'd love to have that meeting, but unfortunately he's so worried about his poor wayward older brother who just can't seem to find the right person! (Elrond has received letters and marriage propositions whenever Elros feels particularly chaotic). And obviously this means that Elrond gets to watch his younger brother grow old and die! That was always going to be painful, but there's an added something about Elros being just a little younger for their entire lives until he dies and then the gap just keeps getting larger and larger. Elrond used to roll his eyes and say "oh it's only a few minutes", now there comes a point where he has to count their age difference in centuries
- The reverse where Elros is older, this one has the advantage that the initial stages of Elros choosing mortality feels very natural actually! Of course he's going grey first, getting married first, having children etc... And it just makes sense when Elrond visits and Elros starts fussing over him. I'm a firm believer that regardless of their age difference, Elrond used to follow his brother around like a little duck when they were kids, and that habit follows them (in a slightly more dignified manner) into their adult years. But then Elros dies, and it's awful and painful but again, he's the older one so he always went everywhere first. Then one day Elrond wakes up in the middle of the night in Imladris (his own twins are just babies at this point and will not sleep through night no matter what) and realizes he's now older than his older brother.
Again, I know that it doesn't matter all that much since they're twins, but it's about that insignificant gap that they used to joke about just getting bigger and bigger.

And as always any warnings are present on the post themselves and the tags on AO3
Thalassophobia (Day 1 Eärwen): Eärwen is terrified of the sea, which is not an ideal thing for a princess of the Teleri. She might also be losing her mind but that’s not something she wants to talk about. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Best Intentions (Day 2 Aegnor): In spite everything (and that everything is heavy) Aegnor does believe he’s doing the right thing. Or at least he hopes he is. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Canning (Or how to focus on preserves and not the horrors that haunt you) (Day 3 Galadriel): Galadriel at the start of the Second Age. Establishing a brand new home is not easy. Neither is any of the rest. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
wish you would walk through my door (Day 5 Finduilas): If he had really gone off to fight, it would mean that he had lied to her. That he’d known he was going to lose, and that meant he knew he would be leaving her behind. So he hadn’t. She refused to believe it. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Enough (Day 7 Free Choice/Finduilas): Learning she’s going to be an older sister would hard enough to process. The political implications behind it make it worse. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
(Any warnings applicable to the work are present either on the individual post itself or on AO3)
Caesura (Day 1 Míriel Þerindë and Indis): Predictable as it may be, it started like most things do when it comes to the Eldar, with starlight. Starlight, songs in a field bathed in darkness, and laughter rippling over the water of a lake. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Tourniquet (Day 2 Findis): In between the laughing and trying to get her sister off of her, she almost misses Curufinwë’s shadow slipping out through the main gates. Almost. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
In Perpetuum (Day 3 Aredhel): Írissë has always been stubborn. But she doesn’t think she’s being unreasonable. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
that which was not found (Day 4 Finduilas): Finduilas daughter of Orodreth and Princess of the Noldor dies at the Crossing of Teiglin. In spite of that, she lives. It is almost harder. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Saudade (Day 5 Andreth): It is a strange pattern to be trapped in. Never formally named anything or invited anywhere that matters, but still wanted and expected, always heard but never truly listened to. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Smitten (Day 6 OCs/Orodreth’s wife): It is a shame neither of their children ever found their calling as playwrights, their story would have been perfect for a classic romantic comedy. Oh well, perhaps it was better, that way their story would remain theirs and theirs alone. (Or how Hîthwen and Orodreth fell in love and came to be married, told in snippets). (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
(Any warnings applicable to the work are present either on the individual post itself or on AO3)
Mind over Matter (Day 1 Angband): The second worst thing about pain is that you learn to live in it. The actual worst is that it can always innovate. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Games Mice Play (Day 2 Minas Morgul): When Minas Ithil fell, the city and the lands around it became poisoned and deadly. Even so, not everyone can escape disaster and life must go on. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Candles for the Dead (Day 3 The Dead Marshes): The marshes are not a place for the living. Still, there are candles lit amongst the will-o-wisps and the ghostly faces. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
The mysterious disappearance of Marjoram Appleton (Day 4 The Old Forest): A hobbit tale about the dangers of the ancient woods (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
Hound or Hind (Day 5 Nan Elmoth): In the moment she blamed the wind for pulling the arrow from its course. In a few years’ time, with the whole of the truth laid bare in front of her, she would blame something else entirely. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)
and now they wait (Day 6 Nan Dungortheb): A traveler, like many others before him, looses his way in the valley of Nan Dungortheb. He meets a different end than others have. (Tumblr & AO3 & DW)

Best Intentions (Tumblr Crosspost)
Jan. 6th, 2026 01:04 pmSummary: In spite everything (and that everything is heavy) Aegnor does believe he's doing the right thing. Or at least he hopes he is.

Author's Note: I adore these two so obviously I was going to write something for Aegnor. This is a sort of companion piece to Saudade (DW link) but they can be read independently.
Thalassophobia (Tumblr Crosspost)

Day 6: Smitten (Tumblr Crosspost)
Nov. 23rd, 2025 03:09 pm(Or how Hîthwen and Orodreth fell in love and came to be married, told in snippets)
AO3 Link
Author's note: What's this? I've written something that is not depressing or horrifying? No but seriously, this is the lightest, fluffiest thing I've ever written so far. (I meant it then and I mean it now I've got like maybe three non tragic/sad fics I've written total, maybe five if we allow for some sadness with an eventual happy ending/happiness so long as you don't look at the canon timeline. And this is still the fluffiest)

Day 5: Saudade (Tumblr Crosspost)
Nov. 22nd, 2025 03:18 pmSummary: It is a strange pattern to be trapped in. Never formally named anything or invited anywhere that matters, but still wanted and expected, always heard but never truly listened to.
AO3 Link
Author's note: I just think that Aegnor and Andreth definitely met through the years in between their sort of break up and his death, and it kills me to think about how frustrating and painful that must have been.
